Hello Dear Readers,
Yes. I was supposed to have chemo today. Unfortunately, it is postponed again.
My dental infection is gone, and my gum has healed very nicely after the tooth extraction last Thursday.
But now I have a skin infection on my left lower shin, after I injured it last month. It has refused to heal, and has gotten more inflamed and painful. So the oncologist prescribed a new antibiotic. Unfortunately, the Amoxicillin that worked for the tooth infection doesn't work on skin infections. After 24 hours of Keflex, the skin infection is already looking much better.
Dr. Hammad decided to postpone my chemotherapy, to give the infection time to resolve before the next chemo slam. She is hoping to have me rescheduled for this Friday, 24 December. I really hope that can happen because the clinic is only open Wednesday to Friday next week, after the holidays, and will be super busy. I thought I might know my schedule by now, but like many health care units, I think the chemotherapy unit is short-staffed. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
(Dr. Hammad also ordered me to stop getting infections; I will do my best to comply!)
In the meantime, I'm sleeping well, having afternoon naps, doing some Christmas preparations, enjoying the tree and settling into the holiday spirit—quiet mode.
And a mantra has "arrived," something I'd been struggling to find. It will help me endure the rest of the treatments.

The photo above was taken yesterday from the Oncology Clinic office. I could watch that view for hours, as the clouds and sun dance together, and the seagulls soar on the wind currents.
For today, the shortest day and longest night, I send Solstice greetings, with gratitude for your companionship along this winding, unfamiliar, and sometimes rocky path I am travelling.
